“The Red Ribbon Gala is about hope and giving. It’s a great platform for individuals and corporations to do their bit for Malaysians Living with HIV/AIDS and their families. We are truly grateful to all the donors and sponsors who have so generously contributed to our cause, especially during these hard times.
“The event tonight would not be a reality without their strong support and generouscontributions,” said Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Chair of the Red Ribbon Gala Organising Committee.
“Since the first Gala, which was held in 1996, these events have raised funds to support various programmes carried out by the Foundation and its sister organisation, the Malaysian AIDS Council, and its Partner Organisations.
“The MAC and its affiliates recently embarked on a two-year Strategic Plan with 411 detailed activities scheduled for 2009 encompassing HIV prevention, treatment, care and support throughout the country. The funds raised tonight will help ensure that we are able to implement these activities as planned,” said Prof Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Chairman of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and President of the Malaysian AIDS Council.
